PRETTY BOBBY is the moniker of Robert Kub, as he explores visual art, existentialism, sexuality and abstraction. Kub’s work is informed by having spent his formative years as closeted christian, studying theology and grappling with the human experience while disallowed full self-expression.

Paper and pastel are his mediums of choice as they represent a counterbalance to the plastic and glass we carry at all times. Outside of physical work, Kub is inspired by early 2000s computer art in the form of digital collages, combining scanned drawings with screenshots or public images.

Kub studied art history and visual art at Marygrove before taking a sabbatical to intern at Detroit’s MOCAD. Kub was born in the suburbs of Detroit MI.
